Famous Ginger-Onion Soup Remedy

QiWorks has a famous ginger-onion soup remedy that you can use if you start to get sick. This technique is only effective if used within the first 12 hours of the onset of a cold or flu: usually when you start sneezing, your nose starts running, and you develop a scratchy throat and body aches.

Ingredients:
2″ fresh ginger root, sliced thin
1 large leek or green onion, sliced thin
2 cloves garlic, minced or sliced
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 cups chicken broth or miso soup

Bring ingredients to a boil. Turn the heat down, cover and simmer for ten minutes. Strain the mixture and keep the liquid. Run a bath with the hottest water you can stand. Sit in the tub and drink the soup. Get your body really warm. When you get out of the tub, stay as warm as possible and bundle up in warm clothing. Crawl into bed and allow yourself to break a sweat.

When done at the right time, this remedy can seriously blunt the effects of an oncoming cold or flu.
